SIR — I would just like to thank Geoff Lees for his letter regarding transport in West Somerset (Free Press November 25).

I too find the 28 service to Taunton appalling. It seems it’s more a Butlin’s bus than one for people in West Somerset.

It’s the only bus to get to Musgrove Park Hospital and it’s virtually impossible to get a seat on Monday or Friday morning; as a retired person I would find it impossible to stand all the way to Taunton for a hospital appointment.

Local people are unable to get out of their homes as town routes have changed, and we all know how important it is for elderly people to get out. This will affect their health, in turn putting pressure on doctors, and not everyone can afford a taxi.

It’s not the fault of Butlin’s, its visitors, First Bus or the council, it’s the Government transport system not working.

Minehead.
