With every passing day, we learn more of the negative aspects of Brexit.

This past week or so, we have seen a resurgence of violence in Northern Ireland by ardent Republicans, not solely down to Brexit of course but undoubtedly it is a contributory factor.

What is definitely irrefutable is that Scotland will eventually hold a second independence referendum, which is directly down to Brexit, all of that leading to the potential break up of the precious United Kingdom.

What I find so surprising is that through thick and thin, our local MP Ian Liddell-Grainger steadfastly votes with the leavers.

I just wonder, in light of the above, what his great, great, great grandmother Queen Victoria would say to her great, great, great grandson Ian? I’m sure that she would use rather stronger language than “We are not amused”.

I am fully aware that my critics will argue that Queen Victoria would probably not have taken us into the EU, but having said that, we are where we are. She certainly would, however, have been horrified at the loss of her empire right on her doorstep.
