Following the recent directive from Theresa May that if councils do not build enough new houses the government will step in and ensure that the builds take place, I have become extremely concerned for the wellbeing and safety of our birds, animals and flora.

I fully accept that we need houses for our young people but our natural world, once destroyed, will never come back.

I would like to know what prevision the RSPB, Woodland Trust, Natural England etc are going to make to safeguards our priceless gems.

Maybe we should start a petition - if others agree with me - and send it to our council leaders or even Downing Street so that we can be sure that our grandchildren will still see hedgehogs, shrews, robins and their many friends.
