SIR — How enterprising is the development of the old chapel at Cotford St Luke as an all purpose building (Free Press August 12).
May I ask, however, if the spiritual needs of the community are being met?
The report informs us that the villagers of Cotford St Luke will soon be "raising their glasses" to the first purpose-built facilities — a pub, shop, function room and restaurant, and then in the final paragraph, "it would be unrealistic to expect the chapel to be used as a church again".
I simply ask the question: "Can a worship centre not be included in the multi-purpose building?"
Having served as a community development worker in some of our inner cities I have experienced the value of a place of worship being included, allowing God's influence to spread and address constructively the moral and social issues which arise in any community.
From experience I have witnessed that when God has been the foundation a community has a secure base from which to work.
It would be encouraging to read through your paper how the exciting new development is including the spiritual needs of society.
