WEST Somerset's 14th annual Swimathon made its first splash on Tuesday to herald three weeks of fundraising competition. Teams from the Watchet Dolphins were the first of more than 100 teams who have entered this year's event to take to the water at Minehead's Aquasplash pool. The Swimathon, organised by the Rotary Club of Minehead, has raised a total of £65,000 for a range of good causes since it was first launched. Teams of six from local schools, sporting clubs, social and community groups or families will be taking up the challenge to swim as many lengths of the 25-metre pool as possible in 55 minutes. The sponsorship they secure will help international, national and local charities and schools. Photo: Steve Guscott
