WEST Somerset chefs and restaurants have battered competition from around the county for the second year running in the Somerset Life Food and Drinks Awards.

Leading the way was Justin Reeves, of Reeves restaurant, who was again named Best Chef of the Year, having won the award last year.

And the restaurant itself was runner-up in Best Dining Experience, while Barrie Tucker of the Psalter’s Restaurant at the Luttrell Arms Hotel made it a Dunster double by taking runners-up spot in the best chef category.

The Best Hotel Restaurant Award went to the Coleridge Restaurant at the Dunkery Beacon Country House Hotel in Wootton Courtenay, ahead of two other local nominations - Psalter’s Restaurant and Minehead’s Beach Hotel.

The competition, organised by Somerset Life magazine, attracted over 1,500 nominations from readers in 15 food-led categories.
