TWO West Somerset firms have reached the finals of the 2022 Somerset Education Business Partnership (EBP) awards which showcase those which have inspired the future local workforce.

Edward Martin Computer Services, in Williton, and Singer Instruments, of Roadwater, are in line for an award in the ‘best placement employer’ category for firms which provide the highest quality work experience.

The partnership connects employers and education providers, helping young people understand the many opportunities available in the county and to develop the skills needed for a successful career.

Businesses also reap rewards by connecting with their future recruitment pool and playing an important role in developing the next workforce generation.

Somerset EBP manager Andrew Hanson said: “Education providers and businesses throughout Somerset make huge efforts to prepare our young people for a successful future contributing to Somerset’s economy. These awards will recognise the best practice that we want to spread even more widely.”

Nick Porter, of Barclays Rebuilding Thriving Local Economies in Taunton Deane, said: “Barclays is delighted to support this year’s awards.

“These enable local businesses and education providers to showcase their outstanding work helping young people seize local employment opportunities.”
