Division One
Brompton Ralph
v Over Stowey
BROMPTON Ralph's large total at home on Saturday proved too much of a target for Over Stowey as the home side won by 143.
An opening partnership of 141 by Paul Poole and Tom Gill in 24 overs gave Brompton an excellent start, Poole eventually being dismissed for 119 and Gill going for 56.
The fifth wicket partnership of 67 between Paul Power and Steve Ridler enabled the home side to post the total of 285-4.
G Thomas was the main wicket taker for Over Stowey finishing with 3-44.
Over Stowey started their reply in positive manner and after 11 overs were scoring at the required seven runs an over, with Phil Rich the main contributor with 47.
However, on the demise of Rich wickets fell regularly with Nathan Hill getting the lion's share with 5-32.
Brompton Ralph: 285-4 (P Poole 119, T Gill 56, P Power 47 no, B Butcher 21, G Thomas 3-44).
Over Stowey: 142 (P Rich 47, A Thomas 19, M Villis 15, N Hill 5-32, C Welch 3-58, P Power 2-35).
Timberscombe
STOGUMBER'S lack of players showed again on Saturday when they played Timberscombe at home and lost by 180. Playing with only ten men a full Stogumber side may have given this strong Timberscombe side more of a game.
Timberscombe won the toss and batted first and I Goodrum and A Stevens immediately set about the home bowlers, despatching the too regular bad balls to the boundary. They were well into the century partnership when Stevens was dismissed for 65 but Goodrum carried on in his aggressive style to reach 75 before being dismissed. Other useful knocks down the order, especially Suritha Bhattacharjee, lifted the final score to 258-6.
At one stage it looked as if the visitors could be aiming for a score in the 300s but to their credit Stogumber's bowlers restricted them enough to prevent this. Jimmy Rexworthy took off the wicket-keeper's pads and came on to bowl to finish with the best bowling figures of 2-28.
Stogumber's innings never got going, only Simon Penny (26) looking like scoring runs after Keith Graddon had ripped out the first four batsmen. Dave Sully scraped up 17 only to fall to an excellent acrobatic catch by Graddon off Gary Thorpe, who claimed the last five wickets.
The Stogumber innings only lasted 24 overs.
Graddon finished with 4-26 and Thorpe 5-45.
Timberscombe: 258-6 (I Goodrum 75, A Stevens 65, S Bhattacharjee 33, P Keal 20, R Rich 15, P Sparkes 15, J Rexworthy 2-28, B Penny 2-62).
Stogumber: 78 (S Penny 26, D Sully 17, G Thorpe 5-45, K Graddon 4-26).
Points: Stogumber 4 Timberscombe 26.
Buckland St Mary
v Timberscombe
THE previous week Timberscombe visited Buckland St Mary and came away comfortable winners by 93 runs.
The visitors won the toss and batted on a very poor wicket which gave very uneven pace and bounce.
Only Ian Goodrum (40) and Paul Keal (32) and debutante overseas player Surithra Bhattacharjee made any significant contributions, despite some wayward bowling by the home side.
Two run outs did not help and the strong Timberscombe batting line-up were all out for 158 with two overs remaining.
In reply, Buckland were soon in trouble against the extra pace of Keith Graddon, who took 6-19 off his 12 overs.
Nick Virgin bowled steadily from the other end with no luck and Gary Thorpe finished off the tail.
None of the home batsmen made a reasonable score with the game finishing in the 29th over.
Timberscombe: 158 (I Goodrum 40, P Keal 32 S Bhattacharjee 20, M Knight 3-44).
Buckland St Mary: 65 (K Graddon 6-19).
Points: Buckland St Mary 5 Timberscombe 26.
Division Two
Exford v
Winsford
EXFORD'S 23 run victory was a narrower margin than expected in this local derby on Saturday.
S Webster and J Winzer gave Exford a solid 63 run partnership for the first wicket before Winzer was stumped for 23. Webster was then dismissed on reaching 33 and with the introduction of D Wilson wickets began to fall and at 83-5 off 24 overs the home side had lost the advantage.
But then M Sherring took a fancy to the bowling and hit six 6s and nine 4s in his 83 no and with J Thorne providing useful back-up the pair put on 110 for the seventh wicket helping their side to 197-7.
D Wilson finished with the good bowling figures of 5-47.
Winsford started brightly with J How scoring quickly and with P Govier and D Wilson looking comfortable things looked good for Winsford.
But the Exford bowlers managed to contain Winsford to 100-4 off 27 overs which meant the visitors were gradually falling behind the asking rate and although A Blackmoor hit out towards the end they finished on 174-7.
Exford: 197-7 (M Sherring 83 no, S Webster 33, J Thorne 26, J Winzer 23, D Wilson 5-47).

When Bridgetown batted Kenny Heard's 64 set his side up for victory but no-one else stayed long enough to build an innings and at the end of their 40 overs the visitors were on 154-8.

Cannington batted first and although D Jones and S Larcombe had useful knocks the home bowlers were always on top with S Bailey the pick of them taking 4-41
The visitor's final total of 143 proved to be of no major problem to Crowcombe's batsmen as all of them contributed towards the winning total of 146 for the loss of only five wickets.
Cannington: 143 (D Jones 41, S Larcombe 31, S Bailey 4-41, J Baker 2-9, C Brewer 2-31, C Lewis 2-34).

Division Four
Timberscombe II v Stoke St Mary
AN entertaining and fluctuating match reached a fitting climax when Timberscombe skipper Keith Storey deflected the last ball of the match past the wicket-keeper to score the boundary required for victory.
Stoke batted first and built their score around opened M Collins (73), who was well supported by E Hopkinson who made 46.
At 155-2 the visitors looked set for a score of 200 plus, but the dismissal of Collins started a clatter of wickets.
James Snell took three in one over and in his next there were three run outs! This collapse meant Stoke had to settle for 182-8 off their 40 overs.
J Snell finished with bowling figures of 3-47 for the home side.
Timberscombe made a steady start to their reply and after Bruce Lang was dismissed, Royston Ball joined Ian Snell in a stand of 93 to put the home side in apparent control — but after Snell was dismissed for an entertaining 73, Ball quickly followed.
Although Chris Stonier tried to settle things down, wickets were tumbling at the other end and when Stonier went for a suicidal run, all seemed lost at 157-9.
However Dominic Westcott joined Keith Storey and proceeded to hit two sixes to leave eight required off the last over. Four singles and Storey's angled bat shot off the last ball brought success to the home side in a closely contested match.
M Walker was the pick of Stoke bowlers taking 4-40.
Stoke St Mary: 182-8 (M Collins 73, E Hopkinson 46, J Snell 3-47).
Timberscombe II: 183-9 (I Snell 73, R Ball 21, C Stonier 17, B Lang 16, M Walker 4-40, N Penny 3-32).

Bridgwater Dragons v Dulverton
IN a game reduced to 30 overs per side due to a break-in of the Dulverton changing room, the visitors came away from their game with Bridgwater Dragons with an easy 119 run win.
Batting first, Dulverton lost two early wickets and were 7-2 before the inform C Hooper joined M Drewer and they put on a partnership of 92 for the third wicket.
Both were out just short of their fifties in consecutive overs but the run rate continued as L Hooper, S Thomas and C Lewington added useful runs as Dulverton scored 114 off the last ten overs to set Bridgwater the challenging total of 219.
The Dragons' innings never got going and they lost wickets at regular intervals thanks to some good bowling and fielding by Dulverton. Only R Hake and W Barry looked likely to get amongst the runs.
