Brompton batted first and Paul Poole and Nathan Hill scored 72 off the first 20 overs, with Hill being out for 62 when the score was 137-3 after 33 overs. John Lee and Dave Brice then had useful knocks to help lift Brompton's score to 203-8 at the close of their innings. Petri Cole and Toby Brewer bowled well for the visitors.
Roadwater made a bad start to their innings losing three wickets for 32 by the 15th over. Division Two
Cannington v Stogumber
ON a good batting track neither side performed well with the bat but the home side just did enough to claim victory by 9 runs.
Cannington batted first and found runs hard to come by against Stogumber's bowlers. Although four batsmen reached the twenties the top score was only 22, scored by C Thomas. The final total of 143 was reached thanks to a late flurry, 43 coming off the last four overs. Jimmy Rexworthy bowled well to finish with 2-17 off his 12 overs, unlucky not to have claimed more wickets as he beat the bat on many occasions.
Stogumber made a very poor start to their innings, four of their top five batsmen only scoring eight runs between them. Les Biffen (41) and Dave Sully put on 42 and Sully and Timmy Auton 40 but the tight Cannington bowling never allowed Stogumber to get on top and with the tail only wagging gently the visitors were all out for 134 in the last over. I Thomas was the pick of the home bowlers finishing with 4-61.
Cannington: 143-6 (C Thomas 22, R Dray 21, J Male 20, W Reed 20, J Rexworthy 2-17, T Auton 2-41, A Jenkins 2-45).
Stogumber: 134 (L Biffen 41, D Sully 24, B Penny 15, I Thomas 4-61, S Larcombe 3-15, J Male 2-22).
Points: Cannington 25 Stogumber 7.
Bridgetown v Ashbrittle
BRIDGETOWN gained a vital 46 run victory over high flying Ashbrittle at home on Saturday.
After being put into bat the home side slumped to 60-6 after 18 overs, J Dawes taking three wickets in two overs to put Bridgetown in all sorts of trouble. A spirited fight back followed though, Mike Matravers (54) and Adrian Warburton (34) putting on 61 crucial runs for the seventh wicket and Brian Mitchell striking some lusty blows in his quickfire 26. J Bradbury took a few late wickets for Ashbrittle but by this stage Bridgetown had raised their total to a competitive 172 all out.
In reply Ashbrittle were given a flying start thanks to openers I Hoggart and J Bradbury but once they were out the run rate slowed and Bridgetown looked to be in command of the game. After the initial onslaught, the opening bowling pair of Darren Heard and Adrian Warbuton, who claimed 3-38, both bowled with good control throughout their 12 over spells to leave Ashbrittle a stiff task for victory. Some big shots from R Williams (23) gave them a glimmer of hope but an inspired spell of bowling by Brian Mitchell (4-5 from six overs) helped shoot out the visitors for 126, well short of their target.
Bridgetown: 172 (M Matravers 54, A Warburton 34, B Mitchell 26, J Bradbury 4-21, J Dawes 3-27, A Hill 2-50).
Ashbrittle: 126 (R Williams 23, J Dawes 20, B Mitchell 4-5, A Warburton 3-38, D Sherring 2-13).
Points: Bridgetown 26 Ashbrittle 8.
Exford v Trull
EXFORD'S Jekyll and Hyde season continued with a seven wicket win over top-of-the-table Trull.
After electing to bat, Trull started brightly but lost early wickets, thanks to good bowling by Skinner. With some tight fielding, plus keeper Ken Bateman taking four catches behind the stumps, Trull were restricted to 100-6 off 30 overs with Skinner picking up 3-36. W Parsons accelerated the scoring, hitting a brisk 76 to take Trull to 163 all out, M Sherring mopping up the tail with 4-62.
Exford were soon pegged back to 49-3 but K Atkins, who carried his bat with 65, and P Skinner (68 no) put on 118 and saw Exford home with overs and wickets in hand.
Trull: 163 (W Parsons 76, M Sherring 4-62, P Skinner 3-36).
Exford: 164-3 (P Skinner 68 no, K Atkins 65 no, E Hawkins 3-36).
Points: Exford 26, Trull 6.
Carhampton v Winsford
CARHAMPTON provided little opposition as they lost heavily at home to Winsford by 168 runs.
Winsford batted first and found batting fairly easy with D Phippen leading the way with 80, and getting good support from T Matravers and M Hayes.
Carhampton's batting collapsed against the bowling of A Blackmore, who finished with 4-15, and F Hayes, to the extent that no-one reached double figures.
Winsford: 208-5 (D Phippen 80, T Matravers 49, M Hayes 48, J Tidbould 2-48, R Bowkett 2-57).
Carhampton: 40 (A Blackmore 4-15, F Hayes 2-18).
Points: Carhampton 2 Winsford 26.
Division Three
Taunton A v Morebath
A HIGH scoring game resulted in Morebath just beating Taunton A by 12 runs.
After losing the toss and being put in the Morebath openers Steve Kelland and Phil Venn did very well to keep their wickets intact for the first 10 overs as the Taunton bowlers extracted a lot of life out of the track. Kelland went on to dominate the innings, scoring 112, having batted the first 10 overs without scoring. He received good support from Mark Trump and Andrew Foxford as Morebath finished on 231-3
In reply, Taunton got off to a good start with Case and Collins taking runs off the Morebath opening bowlers but as wickets fell they got behind the required scoring rate, especially when Patrick Hyde (3-48) and Andrew Foxford (2-23) came back into the attack. When the home side's 40 overs were up they were 12 short of the required total with two wickets remaining.
Morebath: 231-3 (S Kelland 112, A Foxford 46 no, M Trump 27, A Burgess 3-84).
Taunton A: 219-8 (S Case 83, A Collins 36, R Wood 29, P Hyde 3-48, A Foxford 2-23).
Points: Taunton A 6 Morebath 25.

The home side batted first and R Rich (80) and L Taylor (76) were on good form and with support from others Allerford reached a daunting 229-5. K Buller was the pick of Holford's bowlers taking 3-47.
Holford made a brave attempt to reach the required total with D Buller (58) and J Sherwin (45) leading the way. But wickets fell regularly with P Matravers claiming 3-46 and their final total of 213 was just short of what was required.
Allerford: 229-5 (R Rich 80, L Taylor 76, D Richards 24, K Buller 3-47).
Holford: 213 (D Buller 58, J Sherwin 45, K Buller 21, P Matravers 3-46, R Southey 2-35, P Cuthbertson 2-45).
Points: Allerford 26 Holford 7.
Division Four
Stogumber II v
Brompton Ralph II
STOGUMBER'S total of 148-7 proved to be no problem for Brompton Ralph II at Stogumber on Saturday as the visitors won by seven wickets.
Stogumber batted first and although four batsmen scored over 20, with Mostyn Symes top scoring with 44, the scoring rate was never high enough to set a reasonable target. A Poole took 5-39 in his spell of bowling.
An opening stand between Dave Ellis and Mike Pollock of 99 in 20 overs set the visitors well on their way to victory, which they achieved with 12 overs remaining, Noddy Bryant taking the wickets to fall.
Stogumber: 148-7 (M Symes 44, D Bryant 32, R Price 26, A Godfrey 22, A Poole 5-39).
Brompton Ralph II: 152-3 (D Ellis 65, M Pollock 54, S Norman 23 no, D Bryant 3-58).
Points: Stogumber II 5 Brompton Ralph II 24.
Bagborough II v Dulverton
DULVERTON'S total of 205 proved too much for home side Bagborough on Saturday as the hosts finished 49 short at the close of their innings.
Dulverton got off to a sound start with openers N Ferris and D Boyce putting on 98 before Ferris was bowled for 34. Boyce rode his luck to score 77 and R Irwin maintained the momentum with a quick 36 towards the end of the innings.
Replying, Bagborough lost wickets steadily, with R Irwin completing a fine all round display with 3-20 from his 12 overs. Once Bagborough's Redford was dismissed for 48 any realistic chance of them reaching the total vanished.
Dulverton: 205-7 (D Boyce 77, R Irwin 36, N Ferris 34, Redford 3-67).
Bagborough: 156-8 (Redford 48, R Irwin 3-20).
Points: Bagborough 7 Dulverton 25.
Division Five
Cavaliers v Brompton Ralph III
BROMPTON Ralph III never scored enough runs to give themselves a chance of victory on Saturday at Taunton and lost heavily by 10 wickets.
Brompton batted first and Roy Takle and Mike Wright gave them a good start with 49 for the first wicket, but then a major collapse of seven wickets for six runs saw them eventually slump to a poor final total of 82. Chris Doyle did the damage for the home side by taking 4-14 off his six overs.
Chris Axon and A Mardon had little difficulty in knocking off the required runs with them scoring 46 no and 26 no respectively.
Brompton Ralph II: R Takle 27, M Wright 18, T Ettery 15, C Doyle 4-14, J Ponte 4-40.
Taunton Deane Cavaliers: 83-0 (C Axon 46 no, A Mardon 26 no).

Timberscombe II v Bridgwater Dragons
A GOOD all round performance saw Timberscombe II convincingly beat league leaders Bridgwater Dragons by 114 runs.
After being put in to bat and losing in-form Ian Snell, Timberscombe's innings got underway with a fine stand of 83 between Bruce Lang and Andy Dyer. After Dyer was dismissed, Chris Stonier joined Lang and hit a blistering 74 in a stand of 94, hitting three sixes and seven fours. After Stonier departed Lang remained until he was dismissed off the last ball of the innings, his side having reached an imposing 224-6. T Martin took 3-36 for the Dragons.
When the visitors replied Dave Chilcott ensured that they would not make a serious challenge by bowling 12 overs and taking 4-22. Although a late flurry by J Kerry gave Dragons respectability, Maurice Huxtable took three wickets and Andy Dyers' run out finished the game with the visitors 114 runs adrift.
Timberscombe: 224-6 (C Stonier 74, B Lang 59, A Dyer 37, T Martin 3-36, P Stockholm 2-26).

Knockout Cup
Timberscombe v Over Stowey
TIMBERSCOMBE reached the next round of the competition by defeating Over Stowey by 7 wickets at home on Monday evening.
Invited to bat, Over Stowey batted steadily on a pitch still soft from heavy rain the day before. No batsman could get to grips with the wicket and wickets fell regularly, with the home bowlers, particularly Keith Graddon who only conceded 13 runs off his five overs, keeping the scoring in check. Kevin Godfrey finished with figures of 3-27, backed up by good fielding.
Timberscombe's reply started slowly with only 37 runs coming off the first 10 overs, with G Woodley, 12 runs off 5 overs, and M Peaster bowling tightly. A recovery was then led by Adrian Priddle (40 no) and later on by Paul Keal, which was aided by some poor Over Stowey outfielding, for Timberscombe to take victory with eight balls to spare.
Over Stowey: 97-6 (M Bendall 23, D Richardson 23, K Godfrey 3-27).
Timberscombe: 100-3 (A Priddle 40 no, P Keal 19 no).
