CHURCHES in the Caribbean have set the theme for this year’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity – ‘That All May Be Free’.
Churches in Minehead and Alcombe will be getting together next week for the international event, which is prepared by representatives of different countries each year.
The churches are called to both to expose situations around the world such as human trafficking and unequal economic relationships and to work to end them.
West Somerset events include the half-hour daily prayers at noon in the annexe at St Andrew’s Church, Wellington Square, from January 18 to 25, except Sunday, and a united service on Sunday January 21 at 3pm at St Peter’s on the Quay, Minehead harbour.
They are open to all and will be led by ministers and representatives of local churches.
On Sunday morning, January 2, there will be the annual ‘Exchange of Pulpits’ when services include contributions from those of a different tradition.
