After attending the meeting last week regarding running a train service from Taunton to Minehead, I was pleased to hear the speakers give their information.

My first concern is, as anyone who has lived in Minehead for longer than a year can testify, that the traffic congestion on the A39 has become unreasonable for the size road it is, as well as unsafe for some drivers.

My other concern is how our infrastructure of doctors, dentists, schools etc is going to handle the new homes being built along with the added road congestion.

I therefore think that running a train service from Minehead to Taunton would be the best solution going forward.

It is all very well for the long-term volunteers of the WSR to feel they know best about what Minehead needs, but in fact that are very out of -date.

I feel Minehead will wither and die a slow and agonizing death in the future if we do not do something to make access more palatable than we have now.

Currently if you need to get to Taunton to catch a train to say Paddington Station, your options are limited to either having someone give you a lift, taking the bus (which could not handle the kind of luggage required for a passenger to travel overseas) or pay for a taxi.

Why should these be our only options when we have a perfectly good railway to run trains to and from Taunton/Bristol and beyond?

There is a certain amount of feeling trapped in Minehead because of lack of good access to the outside world. Let us set aside our grievances against each other and get on with what really needs to be done with this train service.
