SIR — Yes we do appreciate the kerbside recycling collection we have every other week, especially as our nearest recycling depot is a bus ride away and the local pub now only accepts glass.
However, because of a change of route last month without prior warning, a number of elderly people here missed the collection, which apparently took place at 8am.
Yes, we do know from the notice last spring that items should be available from 7am, but as no collections since then were made from here until the afternoon, we had got into the habit of putting it out around 8.30am.
I myself wouldn't have known of these collection dates and times if it hadn't been for my neighbour who had received a notice, whereas I didn't.
When I mentioned this oversight in notification at the original Williton Council Offices - then still standing - I was told I would receive a copy personally in the near future, but of course it never happened, despite the details I supplied.
We like to recycle as much as possible, as I've mentioned before, but it is still irksome that local recycling depots only accept certain plastics, so a great deal of plastic waste goes into the landfill collection, which is highly undesirable.
If only there was not so much packaging these days we wouldn't be in this mess.
So, my plea is - more information about recycling in general and collections in particular (leaving rubbish or other items for collection many hours in advance makes everywhere so unsightly and hazardous).
