SIR — I am delighted to report that the West Somerset Archaeological and Local History Society is up and running again after the problems of the previous year.
We are offering an exciting programme of Saturday afternoon talks in Minehead's Methodist Church Hall, starting this month with a talk on the history of Stogursey.
As Hinkley Point is very much in the news, one of our highlights for next year will be a talk on the results of current emergency excavations on the site which have provided evidence of Iron Age and Roman occupation.
We meet at 2.30pm on the last Saturday in each month except December from September to April.
Annual subscriptions at £4.50, due in September instead of January, will run right through to the end of next November, or you can just attend a single talk for £2.New members will be made very welcome!
Christopher Wood,
Chairman,
West Somerset Archaeological and Local History Society.
