SIR – Further to Susan Ayshford's letter in last week's Free Press, I write to commend our service 16/24 that operates between Minehead and Bridgwater calling at all stops on a two-hourly basis. Susan says that our service runs non-stop between Watchet and Nether Stowey but that is not the case - we have a regular group of passengers travelling from Kilve, Holford and Quantoxhead to both Bridgwater and to Minehead, which had not been served by through journeys for many years until we extended our service earlier in the year. Our service also connects with buses to Taunton at Watchet and Bridgwater. Many of the buses run through to Porlock and at both ends serve or have good links to both Minehead and Bridgwater Hospitals. Neither the First 14 nor our 16/24 services attracted direct subsidy from the county council; however, their recent cuts to services elsewhere and to the level of reimbursement for pensioner free passes makes operating buses in Somerset difficult for all providers. We are proud to serve the local community and look forward to doing so for as long as we are supported by them. Mark Pedlar, Commercial and Operations Director, WebberBus Ltd.
