THE world’s last seagoing paddle steamer The Waverley will make three visits to Minehead in the next few weeks as part of a Bristol Channel anniversary cruise to mark 80 years since her launch on the Clyde in 1946.
The iconic ship will berth in Minehead as part of a Bristol Channel and South West Wales programme of cruises from May 26 to June 17.
The Waverley will arrive in Minehead Harbour on May 28 at 5.10 pm and leave for a cruise around Flatholm and Steepholm at 5.30 pm.
The next visit will be at 9 am on June 3 for a cruise around Lundy Island.

Her final appearance is on June 13 for a cruise to the Holm islands and Portishead, arriving at 5.35 pm and leaving at 5.50 pm.
Last year was the historic vessel’s 45th anniversary of its first visit to the Bristol Channel and it was awarded National Flagship of the Year by National Historic Ships UK.
Waverley master Capt Dominic McCall said: “We have developed the best possible sailing programme for the Bristol Channel to ensure as many locals and visitors as possible have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional pleasure steamer excursion.
“I am delighted we are able to sail Waverley from over a dozen locations on the Bristol Channel and around South West Wales.”
Waverley Excursions general manager Paul Semple said: “This marks the beginning of a special season for Waverley as she returns to service celebrating 80 years since her launch.
“Eight decades on, passengers can still experience the unique sights, sounds, and atmosphere of travelling aboard a real steamship and we are delighted to see Waverley back after a winter refit which saw a £1.5 million investment in the ship.”
Information about tickets is available on the Waverley’s website or by calling 0141 2432224.
