HALF of the estimated cost of a proposed wheeled sports park in Watchet will be met by a Government grant, town councillors were told this week.
Town clerk Jo Grellier said a Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) bid had been successful.
Ms Grellier said REPF had awarded £75,000 toward the project’s £150,000 cost.
The council plans to redevelop a skatepark off South Road working with Dorset-based design specialists Maverick.
Ms Grellier said she had also submitted a £49,000 bid to the Hinkley Point C community fund, with a decision expected on October 24.
She said: “Without this funding, we could potentially lose the £75,000 from REPF, so it is paramount this bid is successful for the project to go ahead.”
