WATCHET Mothers’ Club has presented £1000 to the Brainwave charity shop in Minehead.

Just over half the amount, £530, was raised at the club’s Christmas charity coffee morning and the remaining £470 from the honest stall outside Anne Reeder’s house.

Anne was joined by Cherry Woodford to present the cheque to Pat Ackroyd, manager of the Brainwave charity shop.

Brainwave was the club’s chosen charity to benefit from recent fundraising as it is a local charity that helps many children and their families from all over the country. It believes in a world where every child with disabilities should reaches their full potential.

Brainwave helps them to achieve greater independence by aiming to improve mobility, communication skills and learning potential through a range of educational and physical therapies.

The therapists – physio, occupational, speech and language, and educational – work with each family to devise a programme specifically designed to suit their child’s needs and unlock their potential.

This may be anything from helping them walk or ride a bike, to recognising colours or writing their name.
