A SPECTACULAR display of fireworks in the night-time sky above Watchet will herald the start of the new millennium.
Town councillors last week gave approval for the fireworks to be launched from the harbour's West Pier.
The show has been sponsored with £2,500 from Wessex Water as a way of repaying the patience shown by residents during lengthy water mains renewal work earlier this year.
It will start at midnight on December 31 and last for approximately 15 minutes.
Cllr John Richards said a large percentage of the display would be airborne to allow people to watch from the comfort of their homes.
