WATCHET Summertime is drawing towards its close with the final event – the spectacle of floating candles – taking place on bank holiday Monday evening.

Record crowds of residents and visitors have enjoyed a busy week of fun ranging from dancing to walking, craft-making and exhibitions.

And it was music all the way when, in addition to Summertime music on The Esplanade, there were also all kinds of extra concerts and gigs, thanks to a Big Lottery Awards For All grant.

After a host of activities, the week proper ended on Saturday. Watchet Live sponsored a stage and there was everything from jazz to covers and rock finishing with a spectacular fireworks display on

Candles will be floated out to sea from the outer harbour. The event is at 8.30pm on Monday as that is when the tides are right.
