WATCHET Town Council’s plans to relocate its offices are set to go on public show.
The authority agreed in principle earlier this year to invest between £50,000 and £60,000 to buy space in the town’s revamped boat museum.
The move from the existing council base in Swain Street would provide larger office space for staff, while an area earmarked for a visitor centre would be used for the authority’s meetings.
Councillors have already backed a decision to fund the move by using £30,000 of reserves.
And last week they authorised clerk Sarah Reed to approach the Public Works Loan Board (PWLB) about a possible low interest loan of around £25,000 to bridge the funding gap.
If the council decides to apply for the cash it will have to show that it has consulted with local residents on its plans.
So an exhibition of the boat museum scheme and the council’s involvement will be held in the council chamber on October 20 and 21.
