TWO brand new Slinky buses have arrived at ATWEST in Minehead to help local people in West Somerset to get around.

Under a contract provided by Somerset County Council, the dial-a-ride vehicles are taking individual passengers to places ranging from the doctors and chiropodist to shops and restaurants, and even to other public buses.

They have wheelchair access and will take people from small villages into centres like Minehead and Watchet.

“These are smart purpose-built new buses for anyone,” said Brian Worrall, ATWEST manager.

“We’ve been running Slinky buses for years and when the old ones were worn out, the county council provided these great new ones.”

Journeys are made between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, subject to availability. At least 24 hours’ notice is needed. To arrange travel and for fare information, phone 01643 707090.

Leaflets are available at the ATWEST office in Brunel Way, Minehead.
