Four-piece baroque super-group Red Priest were set to perform for Milverton Concert Society in March 2020.
The concert had sold out but shortly before it was going to be staged the world changed because of Covid-19 and their visit had to be postponed.
Now tickets are selling fast for their concert on Saturday, October 16, at St Andrew’s Church, Wiveliscombe.
This is the last concert in the current series for Milverton Concert Society and promises to be a fabulous end to what has been a busy and exciting time for the society.
Red Priest is made up of recorder player Piers Adams, violinist Adam Summerhayes, cellist Angela East and harpsichordist David Wright.
Their repertoire ranges from obscure 17th century sonatas to the most famous works of Bach and Vivaldi, all presented in imaginative programmes with filmic titles, such as ‘Truly, Madly, Baroque’. The programme at Wiveliscombe includes Bach, Vivaldi, Albinoni and Tartini.
The early music group have become an international phenomenon with their creative arrangements and swashbuckling virtuosity.
The acoustic foursome has been described by music critics as ‘visionary and heretical’, ‘outrageous yet compulsive’ and ‘completely wild and deeply imaginative’.
Red Priest perform ‘Truly, Madly, Baroque’ at 4.30pm and 7.30pm – for tickets visit www.milvertonconcerts.org or phone 0333 666 3366.
Milverton Concert Society’s next season begins in March 2022 in Milverton Parish Church.
