A MINEHEAD inn beat the competition to come first in a national television show, when results were officially announced last week.
The Quay Inn featured in Channel 4’s long-running 4 In A Bed, in which four pairs of bed and breakfast owners compete against each other to decide whose establishment offers best value for their experience.
The inn featured on Wednesday last week, with the final result declared on Friday, and it has already led to plenty of interest and bookings on the website.
Owner Collette Whiteoak and barman Danny Kelly, who took part in the show, have had to keep the result secret since filming last September. “I expected the lady who came second to win, so I was really shocked at the time with the result – but happy, and Danny was very pleased,” said Collette.
“The books are starting to fill up and I’ve also had a really positive reaction from Minehead people. Everyone’s very pleased to see the town on national TV.
“I’d like to thank the people of the town for their support, they have been really kind. It’s a little town, not the easiest to get to – but it’s worth the journey,” she said.
Now the next step is to sort out everything on the list of things to do, so that the inn is fully ready for when it re-opens again in May.
