CELEBRATORY and soulful music of the Eastern European Jewish tradition can be heard at Halsway Manor, Crowcombe, on Saturday, December 2.

The London Klezmer Quartet was formed in 2009 by a group of klezmer specialists keen to explore the almost-lost wedding music tradition, and was swiftly picked up by some of the UK’s foremost folk and world music promoters.

One of the few in the world who lead the Yiddish dances that this music would traditionally have accompanied, the quartet (LKQ) has played many UK venues and festivals, and has opened Jewish music festivals in Sao Paolo Brazil (Kleztival), Gelsenkirchen and Munich.

It has also had five successful tours in Australia, playing to packed houses in six states, headlining at the National Folk Festival in Canberra two years running and at Port Fairy Folk Festival in 2013.

LKQ has toured in New Zealand and Latvia and released four well-reviewed CDs.

The concert starts at 8pm; bar opens at 7.30pm. Tickets £10 adults, £4 for full-time students. For more information visit the Halsway Manor website or call 01984 618274 ext 1.
