Seven precarious-looking craft survived the waves on a course from near Butlin’s to the town beach, shepherded by two local fishing vessels acting as safety boats.
“Everyone appreciated that we were keeping the race alive and the feedback was amazing,” said one of the organisers, James Bosley.
