SIR — I read with great interest the letter in last week's Free Press from Joan Storey of Spring Gardens, Alcombe, re her memories of things unfortunately long gone.
I am an Alcombe man born in Meadow Road so I also remember most of the things Joan mentioned.
With her reference to the toast rack, I too remember this vehicle which was a "bus" with open sides and slatted seats and was painted green.
I remember it running between Alcombe and Minehead for many years and comfort was non-existent as when it rained you got wet and when it was cold it was cold!
