The council last month circulated questionnaires to residents in areas around licensed premises in the town which were being allowed temporarily to open until 3am at weekends.
It wants to hear residents' views before taking a decision on whether to end or to continue with the later closing times.
The views of the police and healthcare providers are also being sought.
Residents have received a reply-paid envelope in which to return thequestionnaire, which also asks them for their opinions on the priority which should be given to a range of community safety proposals.
