THREE people were trapped following a two-vehicle collision on the A39 at Bilbrook last Thursday.

Firefighters from Williton, Minehead and Taunton were called to the scene and used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the casualties.

A woman in a serious condition was taken to Bristol's Frenchay Hospital by air ambulance while a man suffering only minor injuries was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton by road.

The A39 was closed from Washford Cross to the Blue Anchor turning in Carhampton for at least six hours while the wreckage of the accident was cleared, causing traffic chaos.

A police investigation launched on the day is still underway and officers have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to ring 101.
