MINEHEAD'S economy is on course for a boost this weekend as the town plays host to more than 200 junior football and rugby teams.
An estimated 6,000 visitors are expected for the annual Easter and Spring Festival of Football and Tigers Challenge.
And as well as attracting some of the best youth teams from across the country, event organisers have invited many teams from Minehead Football Club and Minehead Barbarians to take part, giving young players the chance to play both competitive and non-competitive matches.
The town's pitches in Irnham Road and at Ellicombe will form the hub of the weekend's activities.

Both Minehead clubs will be running barbecues and offering refreshments throughout the weekend and the young players will be guests at a special presentation evening at Butlins - where the majority of visitors will be staying - hosted by a celebrity from their respective sports.
Minehead Youth FC chairman Mat Thresher said the local clubs were extremely grateful to Football Festivals and Butlins for bringing the tournament to Minehead, and also to Minehead Town Council and its staff for their help.
"I am sure the combination of a bank holiday weekend and increased visitors to our town will boost the local economy."
