SIR — What is it about signs in West Somerset? I have for over three months tried to get a simple job done - replace a broken sign. Not difficult, I hear you say, but it is for West Somerset Council.
I have requested the sign to be replaced, I have phoned and spoken directly to the person responsible, I have spoken to other staff at West Somerset Council on three separate occasions.
I was promised they would have a temporary sign fitted within a few days, and as nothing happened I even phoned customer services who promised to get back to me but nothing, not even a call back.
So whilst not on the scale of the new hospital sign which I was previously involved in, I again commissioned a sign to replace the broken one. I ordered in on last Monday, was able to collect it at 11am the next day and it was in place by midday.

I know the council say they are broke but £5.50!
I am only asking the council to ensure that we maintain some standards such as signage. To me it's poor service when a sign at £5.50 cannot be replaced for over three months.
