WATCHET Blue Waves lost a little ground in the Division Three promotion race when they could only draw 3-3 at home to Millers 2000.

Meanwhile, the two sides above them were both recording thumping wins - Blackbrook hammered Cross Farm Park Celtic 9-0 away and leaders Thatchers Spartans Colts won 7-1 at East Reach Wanderers.

The results leave Blue Waves four points behind Colts but only three adrift of Blackbrook with a game in hand.

In the same division, Bishops Lydeard had a comfortable 6-1 home win over Linden City.

In a Division Four derby, Periton Rangers won 8-2 away to Carhampton Rovers to stay firmly in the promotion race.

Both teams struggled early on on the small pitch, and although there were chances at both ends, the keepers pulled off good saves.

The breakthrough came on the half-hour when a great ball from Bailey picked out the in-form Knowles who fired low into the net.

Five minutes later it was 2-0 when Darren Lyons scored with a looping header, and although Periton had chances to increase their lead, it remained that way until the break.

The second half started much as the first had finished, with Rangers in complete control, and it wasn't long before Richmond Kisby netted his first goal of the game.

Kisby then applied a great finish to make it 4-0, but with Periton becoming sloppy as everyone pushed forward to score, Carhampton scored two quick goals to get back into the match at 4-2.

Only good defending by Ruddy and Duffield kept the home side out, and it needed an outsanding save from Allen to stop Rovers making it 4-3.

From the resulting kick, Periton won a corner and M Rodgers rose to power in a header and make the game safe.

There was still time for Kisby to complete his hat-trick with a brilliant chip over the keeper and for Rodgers to score the goal of the game, winning the ball in midfield and beating the defence to drill the ball past the keeper.

Lyons wrapped up the 8-2 scoreline with his second of the match.

Bagborough Rovers enjoyed an 8-4 win away to FMV 2000, but West Somerset Wanderers lost 2-1 at home to leaders Gardeners United.

In Division Five, Dunster went down 8-1 away to Swallowfield.
