ALCOMBE Rovers went down 6-1 away to Creech in a Division One match they will want to forget.

Two players failed to arrive for the start, leaving them with the minimum 11 players, and after only ten minutes they lost Mike Thresher with a leg injury.

Paul Ahmet was also limping but carried on until half-time, when he had to call it a day, leaving Rovers with nine men for the second half.

Creech took the lead after 20 minutes with a good shot which gave keeper Matt Lovell no chance, and had added two more by the 30th minute.

Paul Jenkins pulled one back for Alcombe with the best goal of the half, a thunderous free-kick from 30 yards through a ruck of players.

Just on half-time, Creech made it 4-1.

After the break, Rovers' nine men restricted the home side to two more strikes, and could well have made the score more respectable if they had taken the chances they created.

Alcombe Rovers: M Lovell, R Matcham, P Jenkins, M Hill, P Ahmet, H Holt, P Matcham, J Hill, A Dyer, P Adams, M Thresher.

In the same division, Dulverton Town were 5-2 losers at home to Bishops Lydeard.

Division Two saw Watchet Reserves lose 4-2 at Staplegrove.

In Division Three, West Somerset Sports came from behind to snatch a 4-3 victory away to Norton Fitzwarren Reserves with an injury time winner.

An uneventful first half saw Sports create some good chances but their finishing lacked conviction.

Norton had a fair amount of possession but didn't really threaten until they caught out the Sports defence for a 1-0 half-time lead.

In the second half, some poor defending saw keeper Chris Betts forced to make an excellent save before Norton went 2-0 ahead from a quick break.

The home side could have stretched their lead before youngster Mark Williams made it 2-1, but Norton soon restored their two-goal lead thanks to more frail defending.

They should have made the game safe as they carved out more chances, but with less than ten minutes left a brilliant solo run by man of the match Lee Todd brought him a goal to make it 3-2.

Soon after, a free-kick into a crowded Norton area saw acting skipper Richard Jones notch his first-ever senior goal in Saturday football to level the scores.

Sports' management were content with that but the players had other ideas, and well into injury time a great run by Sam Parkinson set up Williams to score his second and the winner.

West Somerset Sports: C Betts, T Hills, S Parkinson, T Long, R Jones, R Treadaway, S Floyd, A Dixon, T Wyrwoll, M Williams, L Todd, subs P Woodley, M Norman, J Rodgers, M Armitage.

In Division Four there were defeats for both Dulverton Reserves, 6-1 away to Bridgwater Sports Reserves, and Exmoor Rangers, 3-1 at home to Haygrove Reserves.

Four local sides shared draws in Division Five. Minehead Celtic were held 6-6 by Commercial, Dinamo Watchet and Moortown finished at 1-1, Williton drew 2-2 away to Wyvern Foxes and Porlock Reserves were held 0-0 by Staplegrove Reserves.

Still unbeaten in the league, Porlock dominated the first half with wingers Mair and Addicott frequently getting to the by-line but failing to deliver the killer ball.

Goodrum, Addicott and Taylor all had good chances, while at the other end, centre halves Rob Southey and Neil Watson restricted Staplegrove to a few half-chances with keeper Shopland only called on to make one good save.

The stalemate continued in a more even second half with Porlock again lacking the killer instinct in the final third.

The match ended with both sides settling for the draw but Porlock knowing they should have had all three points for their first half domination.

Porlock Reserves: A Shopland, D Healey, R Southey, S Beauchamp, K Griffiths, G Mair, N Coward, I Goodrum, R Addicott, N Binding, A Taylor, subs S Perkins (used), L Cowling, K Sparks.

Nether Stowey Reserves were 3-0 winners at home to Brandon.

l In the Somerset Intermediate Cup, Porlock eased into the second round with a 6-2 away win over Cheddar A.

On an uneven pitch, Porlock were first to settle, with early efforts by Paul Long and Luke Taylor being thwarted by the overworked home keeper.

The breakthrough came after 20 minutes when Long coolly chipped the advancing keeper.

The lead was doubled on 32 minutes when Richie Rich rounded off a flowing move, and with Porlock now in control, Cheddar caved in again on 42 minutes when Taylor volleyed home a deep cross from the right to make it 3-0.

The second half started with man of the match D Sowden beating four players and firing home a left-foot shot from the edge of the box.

It soon became 5-0 when Rich curled a shot into the top corner and he completed his hat-trick when he slotted home from close range.

With the game effectively over, Porlock relaxed and let the home side score twice to add some respectability to the scoreline.

Porlock: J Harris, I Cape, P Matravers, M Gunn, D Chaffey, L Taylor, S Plenty, D Sowden, R Wood, R Rich, P Long.

Also through to the next round are Nether Stowey, who trounced Evercreech Rovers Reserves 10-0 away, Bishops Lydeard, 5-1 home winners over Chard United, and Vale, narrow 4-3 winners against Peasedown St John Rovers.
