THE West Somerset Talking Newspaper, which supplies regular recorded news from the Free Press to blind and partially sighted people, is seeking volunteers.
It is currently seeking a recording assistant to help at recording sessions and whilst it would suit a person with some technical knowledge, that is not essential, and basic training would be provided by the studio engineer.
The recording assistant would be asked to volunteer for a few hours on one

Due to a bereavement, the Talking Newspaper is also seeking a volunteer to become treasurer. This task is not onerous and would suit someone with basic skills in income, expenditure and banking procedures, requiring a commitment of a few hours each month.
This volunteer would be required to become a member of the committee and attend meetings on a six-weekly basis.
Roger Hurst, chairman of the Talking Newspaper, told the Free Press the charity had been in existence since 1980 and currently supplied news by way of tape or disc to listeners in the area.
He added that the filling of the voluntary roles was essential to the continued existence of the charity and asked that anyone interested contact him on 01984 640060 for more information.
