THREE new street pastors and 22 school pastors are to be commissioned at Alcombe Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 20.
They all attend local churches and provide friendly, reassuring faces both on the streets of Minehead, working alongside the police, and at West Somerset College, supporting staff.
All volunteers are trained and monitored by the Ascension Trust, a Christian inter-denominational charity, which empowers individuals to contribute positively to society and improve the lives of those who are vulnerable.
Ian Candy, street pastors management group chairman, said: “Minehead Street Pastors, which has been working in the town since 2011, welcomes the school pastors initiative into its family.

The commissioning service is at 5.30pm on April 20 when the new school and street pastors will be welcomed by staff from West Somerset College and other local organisations along with a representative from the Ascension Trust.
