JOB seekers and local residents in Stogursey are getting to grips with the digital world thanks the village’s Community Employment Hub.
The hub, operating from The Greyhound in Lime Street on a fortnightly basis, recognised that basic IT is an essential tool and skill for clients’ future. It is a must to gain the confidence to search the internet for jobs, interests and life in general.
The Positive People project and Cosmic joined forces to lay on the basic computer course at the wi-fi enabled Stogursey Victory Hall, supported by the parish council.
IT trainer Clive Newton said: “Positive People has been running introductory digital classes in Stogursey Victory Hall over the last six weeks.
“Ten members of the local community and hub clients have attended, all eager to brush up their digital and computing skills.
“Topics covered have varied from starting to use a keyboard and mouse through to introducing internet searching, sending emails and basic use of tablets and smart phones.
“I’m really pleased with the level of engagement of those who have attended. Everyone has made solid progress, and aren’t afraid of giving it a go, which is the most important thing!”
