WATCHET driving instructor Steve Page is easy to 'spot' as he gathers support for a forthcoming fundraising drive in aid of the BBC Children in Need appeal.

Steve, who has been an approved driving instructor for five years after a lengthy career in the Royal Navy, will be taking part in the nationwide Big Learner Relay.

The brainchild of fellow instructor Louise Walsh, the event will see driving instructors from across the country taking part in a motorised relay through England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales over 14 days.

Each driver has to carry a Pudsey Bear roof-top box with them and pass it on to the next driver with the aim of finishing the relay in Birmingham on Children in Need night on November 14.

Steve is hoping local people will sponsor a spot on his Sally's School of Motoring car to raise money for the children's charity appeal.

He has been chosen to cover the relay leg between Highbridge and Bristol on November 11, between 3pm and 4.30pm, complete with a driving school pupil behind the wheel!

"The charity itself has a vision which I totally agree with - 100 per cent of the money donated going to the kids in our country.

"I'm proud to have pledged my support and been chosen for one of the lead lessons - my car is looking great!" Steve said.

He is hoping the relay will become an annual event and is keen to persuade the organisers to bring next year's relay through West Somerset.

Anyone who would like to sponsor Steve should text the words Pass73, followed by the £(amount) they would like to donate to the number 70070.
