A GROUP of nimble fingered sewing enthusiasts will be showing off their talents and hoping to raise funds for charity at an exhibition in Crowcombe. Stitches and Yarns is a group of women who have been holding weekly sewing sessions in Sampford Brett for the past 15 years. Now they have decided to let people see the fruits of their labours at a five-day show at Crowcombe Church House. The event, which is taking the theme 'Tea in the Garden' will feature a range of the group's work, from quilts and cushions to bags. But the star of the show - a quilt which all the members have had a hand in creating - will be raffled off in aid of the RNLI. It is not the first time group effort quilts have helped good causes - previous ones raffled off have raised money for Help for Heroes, the stroke unit at Williton Hospital and a small village in Africa. This year's quilt follows the garden theme of the exhibition. "It's very pretty and features flowers," said group member Mary Parsons. "It took at least a couple of months to make." The exhibition runs from June 11 to 15 and will be open 11am to 5pm daily. Cream teas will be available and some of the items on display will be available to buy.
