SOMERSET Sight has teamed up with Exmoor National Park’s Moor to Enjoy project to provide an outing for visually impaired people at Wimbleball Lake.

The adventurous tried kayaking while the more sedate members enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the lake. They came back together for a picnic lunch and visited The Duck’s Café for a hot drink.

“We had an excellent time – it was a great experience,” said one of the kayakers, Graham Glover, from Taunton.

“We thought we’d paddled into the middle of the lake at one point but it turned out we had actually just gone in a big circle. We all had such a laugh about it.”

Becky Fry, development officer for Somerset Sight, said the charity has

a social and activity programme for sight impaired people of every age.

“We believe that everyone, regardless of their sight condition, should be able to enjoy activities that interest them,” she added.

Somerset Sight is hoping to attract volunteers to help support all its activities and services. Information can be found on the Somerset Sight website or call the team on 01823 333818.
