Given the level of bile displayed in his December letter, I had not expected Alan Bond to retract his comments about supporters of Boris Johnson and he has, indeed, offered no apology in his latest letter (Your Letters January 10).

He now advises everyone who wants “a decent future” to sell up and move to Europe.

Which country does he suggest? France is paralysed by national strikes, Germany is going into recession, unemployment rates in Greece, Italy Spain and Portugal are very high, Sweden now has “no go” areas for the police due to drug gang warfare.

Presumably, he would rule out Poland, Hungary and Austria as too right wing, Malta looks a bit corrupt and the legal system in Cyprus is a bit iffy.

If you don’t have language skills, that probably narrows it down to Eire - a country heavily dependent on trade with the UK.

Can he explain why so many EU nationals want to come here to work and live if the UK is as awful as he makes out?

I do hope Mr Bond will let us know his new address - I’d like to send an appropriate card wishing him well.

Sandra Jones, Old Cleeve.
