The advent of Spring could be put on hold next month as some weather forecasts project snow to fall across Exmoor.
The BBC weather forecast for Exmoor predicts sunny spells and rain in the first week of March, which are set to give way to sleet, before the snowfall starts.
The snowfall is forecast to begin falling on Wednesday March 8, at 8am, after a night of sub-zero temperatures. As temperatures rise the snow is expected to give way to sunshine throughout the rest of the morning.
Light snow showers are forecast to return on Thursday March 9 at 7 am, before temperatures rise and rain showers arrive toward the weekend and into Monday March 13.
The Points West weather outlook for the remainder of the week is of dry and settled conditions with bright spells and variable cloud. Saturday is set to be bright before the clouds arrive, staying dry.
Prior to 2018, the last time the UK saw snowfall in March was in 2013, when snow continued to fall across some parts of the UK until as late as early April.
Easter in 2013 was the coldest ever recorded, and the month of March as a whole was the fourth coldest in over 100 years.
