REPTILE enthusiasts Bear and Becky Welsh have a new addition to their menagerie - a corn snake found slithering around a garden in Alcombe last Friday.

The healthy-looking snake was handed in to Bear and Becky who live nearby.

They have successfully kept and bred reptiles for many years and they identified the lost but healthy-looking reptile as a corn snake.

Corn snakes originate from North America and in the last few years have become a very popular pet.

"This corn snake looks in remarkable condition and it is quite capable of surviving our cold winters," said Becky. "With a bulge in it belly, it has obviously been feeding."
