MINEHEAD’S Tesco supermarket brought its busy festive season to a close having raised more than £1,500 for its charity partners.

Shoppers showed their generosity by donating gifts to the Christmas wish tree – which were gratefully received by the residents of Dene Lodge – and enough items for 15 Christmas dinner boxes that were collected for the West Somerset Food Cupboard.

Santa made an appearance in his grotto to meet some of the younger shoppers and raised £88.34, and the singing group put together by community champion Kirsty Allen performed Christmas classics and carols in-store and raised £1,499.73.
