The £200,000 Pirate Island at Tropiquaria Wildlife Park was mobbed by eager young sailors, keen to test out their sea legs on the two life-size wooden ships.
The boats were designed by John Hesp, of Allerford, and turned into reality by a team from Dunster sawmill.
They also proved popular with parents visiting the park as they had the chance to grab a few minutes of peace while their offspring explored what Tropiquaria owner Steve Smith billed as "the most exciting piece of play equipment in West Somerset".
