DISTRICT council officer Helen Phillips was awarded the coveted Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star Medal after completing the Tokyo Marathon in Japan on Sunday.

The former West Somerset College pupil, a member of Taunton’s Running Forever Running Club, finished in four hours 57 minutes 50 seconds in heavy rain.

The medal is for completing all six major city marathons – New York, London, Chicago, Boston, Berlin and Tokyo – and only a small number of female amateur athletes worldwide have achieved the feat.
