On Thursday June 23, 2016 we held an EU referendum and the Government pamphlet clearly stated “This is your decision. The Government will implement what you decide”.

We decided to leave. The result was Remain 16,141,241 votes (48.1 per cent) Leave 17,410,742 votes (51.9 per cent)- Turnout 72.2 per cent.

This was the people’s decision and the Prime Minister, David Cameron, accepted the result commenting “The British people have voted to leave the European Union and their will must be respected. The will of the British people is an instruction that must be delivered”.

The issue is no longer a party issue, nor the issue of an individual MP. The people have spoken and it is incumbent on all MPs to deliver the instruction – or so we were led to believe.

The establishment in the form of small sections of the Conservative Party, nearly the whole of the Labour Party and all of the Liberal Democrats, are working hard to block Brexit and thus thwarting the will of the people.

I recently wrote to Sir Vincent Cable suggesting that he removes the word Democrat as it is the opposite of what he stands for.

I have also written to Dominic Grieve and suggested that he uses his legal brain to support the cause of Brexit instead of subverting it.

In case he does not understand, leaving the EU means leaving the Customs Union, the Single Market, removal of the Freedom of Movement and of the European Court of Justice, restoration of our sovereignty and all that flows from it.

I have not bothered to write to Mr. Corbyn as I do not think he would understand what I was writing about.

The truth is that all parties are run by remain leaders and as part of the establishment they have no intention of allowing the people to leave the EU.

Ironically, they now talk of the people’s vote as if we have not had one already. But, of course, the establishment propagate the lie that leavers did not understand what they were voting for.

And now to our local Liberal, Cllr Mike Rigby, who represents the Lydeard division. He has stated “Brexit, which I consider to be an historic mistake, riddled with illegality and which I feel an obligation to oppose”…”I will continue to represent the people of Lydeard with the same independent mindedness and strong voice”.

In other words, he is a true Liberal who is ignoring the will of the people over Brexit and ignoring the will of his constituents who as part of the Taunton Deane Division voted 52.9 per cent leave against 47.1 per cent remain with a 78.2 per cent turnout.

Imagine his fury if the result had been the other way around and some local upstart demanded a second referendum.

Finally, a word of caution to all politicians of all parties. You are currently in the process of destroying what is left of our democracy as well as destroying your own parties.

People of the UK, regardless of leave or remain, are universally disgusted by the appalling behaviour displayed by MPs in parliament.

The “People” will not put up with your antics much longer and you all run a real risk of destabilising society. This cannot be allowed to happen, so please shape up and get a proper no nonsense Brexit through Parliament.
