Hinkley Point B’s Ryan Lobb is hoping to top £3,000 in sponsorship for a cancer charity after completing this year’s London Marathon back in October.

Ryan, who works in security and lives in Watchet, completed the 26-mile challenge in five hours and 29 minutes, and made some unforgettable personal memories along the way.

“I was in some discomfort for the last six miles and I was pushing myself through the pain barrier as I edged towards the finishing line, but what an absolutely amazing experience”, said Ryan who has worked at the power station since 2012.

“Strangers shouting out your name every 50 yards, looking out for family and friends in the crowd, and seeing all the famous land marks of London all in one day, was absolutely incredible, and the whole day was just an amazing experience.”

The London Marathon is the second most popular annual road race in the UK after the Great North Run in Newcastle.

And Ryan is already encouraging family and family, friends and colleagues to apply to enter next year’s run, and to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, a charity close to his heart. His efforts this year have already raised more than £2,700 and he’s hoping to drive that total higher.

He said: “If you want a challenge and to be proud of something which can also help others, then put your name forward to run the 2023 London Marathon.

“I have completed it, and I am really proud I did.”
