The A39 was closed in both directions on Monday morning after a car collided with a pedestrian.
The incident happened at 6.25am on Quantock Road, near Bridgwater.
Police say the road is closed in both directions and the pedestrian has been taken to hospital.
Avon and Somerset Police said: "The A39 is currently shut in both directions near Bridgwater.
