Legend has it that Catherine of Braganza, known as Caturn, came to the town to buy Watchet blue cloth in the 17th century.
Revived 11 years ago, Caturn’s Night commemorates her birthday, November 25. She was born in 1638 in Portugal and married Charles II in 1662.
This year’s event, from 4pm to 6pm, starts from Swain Street car park with a procession through the town by the king and queen, the carnival queen and attendants.
Later attractions will include Father Christmas in his grotto, entertainment by Captain Barnacle, a variety of stalls, a raffle and singing by the Watchet Community Choir.
Organiser Molly Quint said: “There’s always a real party atmosphere on Caturn’s Night. It’s become one of the town’s really special events”
