MINEHEAD Football Club’s dream of a new £800,000 clubhouse could become a step nearer reality if local people back a bid for a £50,000 prize which could trigger further massive funding.
Sport and civic leaders this week urged people to vote to support the project, which is in the last 25 contenders for the Jewson’s Building Better Communities Fund’s £50,000 regional prize.
Colin Johnson of Somerset’s Activity and Sports Partnership, which is backing the project with the football club and Minehead Town Council, said: “The award of the grant depends 50 per cent on the number of votes received, so everyone is encouraged to get the word out via their social media or email and vote.
“The grant is only small in terms of the total cost of the project, but vital as the funding package is developed, so please vote by June 18.”
