CARHAMPTON has been awarded £600 for labelling and interpretation boards in its community orchard.
The grant is from the Shell Better Britain Campaign to boost the community orchard trust's efforts to improve the site's educational value.
The orchard has been managed by trustees for several years since it was saved from a threat of development.
Shell's campaign includes a grants and information package to encourage more people to keep sustainability in mind when they carry out local activities.
Campaign director Peter Woodward said: "We are now targeting our grants to support a wide variety of good ideas so that other local groups can share their experiences of building a better life through our information service.
"Carhampton community orchard is exactly the kind of initiative we want to tell people about. We hope the lead taken by this group will be an inspiration to others."
The Shell campaign has a network of 25,000 members which can be joined by any community group working to improve their local area.
Membership provides access to a range of information, advice and grant funds. Interested groups should contact Shell Better Britain Campaign, King Edward House, 135a New Street, Birmingham B2 1QJ.
